Modern Literature and History of Religions
Francesco Baroni (1980, Florence. Lives and works in Florence and Lausanne) studied at Università di Firenze, École Normale Supérieure of Paris (ENS-Ulm) and Université Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV), where he took a DEA in “Medieval Studies” in 2005. In 2009 he completed a research doctorate on “Anthropology and history of religions” at École Pratique des Hautes Études of Paris, specializing in the study of modern western esoteric currents. From 2010 to 2012 he was a fellow at the Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Storici in Naples. Since 2013 he has been a research affiliate at the Institut Religions, Cultures, Modernité of the University of Lausanne. His research focuses on the relationships between western esotericism and modernity, and the history of studies on esotericism and magic during the course of the 20th century.
