Domenico Billari (1977, Basel. Lives and works in Basel and Rotterdam). Degree from the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst (HGK) at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (FHNW) of Basel in 2008. He has received many honors, including the Kulturförderpreis in 2011, the annual prize organized by the Alexander Clavel Foundation in Riehen, Switzerland. Billari has taken part in group shows in public institutions and international non-profit spaces (Kunstraum Baden, 2012; Oslo 10, 2011; Das Weisse Haus, Vienna, 2011) and festivals in Switzerland (Les Urbaines Lausanne, 2010; Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival – NIFFF, 2010). He was one of the artists invited to the 5th Moscow Biennial of Contemporary Art (20 September – 20 October 2013). In his performances, videos, installations and sound pieces Billari focuses above all on the narrative structure of the work. This research often makes use of minimal or spectacular gestures, corresponding to a specific expressive code or triggered by unusual or personal experiences.
